State government consent merger of 23 zones in Pune civic body

Priest for metropolitan improvement Eknath Shinde on Tuesday marked a request, preparing for the consolidation.

Patriot Congress Party’s city unit president and MLA Chetan Tupe while affirming the improvement stated, that with the request set up, the consolidation of these zones into Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) cutoff points will before long start.

“Minister Eknath Shinde has signed the proposal for merging 23 villages in the PMC. Deputy chief minister and Pune district guardian minister Ajit Pawar has been aggressive about merging these villages into the PMC limits. As the minister has given the nod, the Urban Development Department will make a public resolution for it by completing the administrative process soon,” said Tupe, who also heads the NCP city unit.

These 34 territories were planned to converge in the city in 2014 however political discussion halted their consideration. In 2017, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) drove government in the state at last encouraged consolidation of just 11 towns in as far as possible and vowed to combine, the other 23 towns in a stage savvy way.

The move of the consolidation accepts noteworthiness for the NCP and Congress given that these two gatherings have political command over these territories, which will help them during the 2022 city surveys. As the civil races are scheduled in mid 2022, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has facilitated consolidation of these towns in PMC before the races.

A senior authority from PMC said blending these regions into PMC is acceptable. “It would help start proper development of these villages. Though they are part of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), they did not have enough machinery to carry out the development process,” said the authority mentioning secrecy.

This official said that while taking the choice on the consolidation, the state government should offer assets to the PMC to raise premise foundation like road, waterlines, drainage and electricity.
