From Shivneri to Rajgad, the Pune Pargana was settled by Jijabai. That is the reason we have been requesting this throughout the previous 25 years. We have completed a few correspondences with the public authority in such manner,” Dhumal said.

Shiv Sena MP from Shirdi has, in the interim, requested renaming Ahmednagar as Ambikapur.

The Shiv Sena pioneer raised the interest to rename the memorable town of Ahmednagar which was found in 1490 by Ahmad Nizam Shah (I) on the site of the antiquated city of Bhingar.

With the separation of the Bahmani Sultanate, Ahmad set up another sultanate in Ahmednagar, otherwise called Nizam Shahi line. Shiv Sena’s MP from Shirdi in Ahmednagar Sadashiv Lokhande has thought of an interest to rename the city as Ambikapur after the sanctuary of Goddess Ambika.

“As per demand, Aurangabad is to be renamed as Sambhajinaga. On similar lines, we demand Ahmednagar be renamed as Ambikanagar. All three parties of the MVA alliance will sit together and make a decision,” Lokkhande said.

The issue of renaming Aurangabad has overwhelmed legislative issues of the state since 1988 when Shiv Sena supremo Late Balasaheb Thackeray proposed to rename Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar.
